When our friend Mac Wilson asked us to consider donating a portrait for a benefit he was producing we had no idea that the result would end up being so meaningful, but this piece really moved us. Danny Gatton - Master Musician.

You’ve heard of the Telecaster? This man was known as the TeleMaster ! He was a virtuoso of string instruments before becoming a teenager. Danny was known for his incredible versatility and unique style of blending genres, breaking traditional boundaries. He was admired by many guitar players and is still revered as one of the best who ever lived.

Unfortunately, we lost him too soon. The image comes from a photograph of him performing at The Birchmere in 1990, a favorite to Danny’s wife. Our initial thought was to use shades of grey to give a black and white appearance. Then we played his music . . . And chose the most intense colors we had!

Suspended between two panes of glass, Danny is constructed almost entirely from deerskin - 115 fluid pieces, accented with his signature in stitching. The first one was auctioned to benefit his daughter’s education. The second one was commissioned by his mother.
